EVENT: Colonial Art Forms of Mexico

TIME: 12 noon- 5pm

DESCRIPTION: Hidden away on the banks of the North Phoenix Canal you can hear history whispering through the trees surrounding a unique century old house originally built as a beekeeper’s residence.  Today the restored building serves as a bed and breakfast.  Period rose bushes, aromatic gardenias, citrus and covered arbors give this secret garden a romantic aura as the sweet smells of spring waft around tarrying guests.  While you stroll, potters from the renowned village of Mata Ortiz, Mexico will decorate and fire their world famous art.

The DOVES program of the Area Agency on Aging, Region One will be hosting a “Colonial Art Forms of Mexico”.  Mata Ortiz pottery is one of the finest and most innovative ceramics in the world. The event is free and light refreshments will be served.   Mata Ortiz pots and jewlery will be available at the event for purchase with 40% of sales going to directly to the DOVES program.
